#Booting up and installing el capitan for mac update
But the Mac tries to start from the the Update disk image El Capitan, so I get the same procedure and the same error messages.įour attempts to get Apple to call me resulted in two messages that they unssuccessfully tried to reach me (while I was sitting next to the phone), one non-response and one friendly employee who had no other idea than to reinstall and restart. Well, the installation was no problem, and I've reset the NVRAM. Disk utility did not find a fault, but to go sure I erased the disk and tried to go back to 10.9.5 by reinstalling the Time Machine backup. Next step: Restart via Recovery boot over the internet. So I've downloaded the full update via the recovery boot window, but that hung up as well. However, the installation went to the point where it shows about 5 minutes left, hung up and changed to the error log window. Downloaded the update from the App Store, no problems. Similar problem: I've tried to update from 10.9.5 to El Capitan. Help Please! I can't believe Apple would release this botched software update! Now my computer is useless. Also, I cannot seem to boot in safe mode either. I'm not sure what to do now as I don't want to erase my HD before I have a solution. I'm assuming my only option is to now do a clean install, however, when I go to the Internet it won't let me open the App Store, so I can't download a fresh copy onto an external drive. I read and tried several of the "fixes" from Apple Support Community but nothing seems to work. I was able to do a full backup of my hard drive to an external from Disk Utility.
When I restart in Recovery Mode everything appears to be the new El Cap interface.

Everything downloaded and install went through all the way to the end and I get a huge error log in the background and it says something generic like "El Capitan cannot be installed." It then asks if I want to reinstall El Capitan which I've tried several times with the same result. Which according to Apple should still support the update. I've tried to download and install El Capitan on my Early 2008 MacBookPro.
